Ashley Reilly

My name is Ashley Wolfe Reilly, and I am grateful and excited to be entering my 4th year as the Social Emotional Counselor at BHA. I was born and raised in Stockton and returned to the area a few years ago after over a decade of school and work in the Bay Area. I attended UC Berkeley (GO BEARS!!!) for my undergraduate degrees, California State University East Bay for my Master’s of Social Work, and San Francisco State University for my Pupil Personnel Services Credential.

My post-graduate career has been spent working with youth and their families in a variety of settings including residential, school-based, hospital, and community settings. I found my perfect role in school-based counseling, where I get to balance my passion for working with the student body on initiatives to promote positive school culture with my love of supporting students with one on one and group counseling.

One of my favorite parts of my job is building relationships with students and their families, so please don’t hesitate to contact me for any need, big or small. My direct line is (209) 955-1477, extension 12343. My email address is ashley.reilly@aspirepublicschools.org, and I can be found in Room 153 on campus, near University Hall.

Russell Hess

Hello, my name is Russell Hess. I grew up in Pennsylvania my Father was a family physician and my mother was an elementary school teacher. I was the 8th of 9 children so I grew up in a busy house. As a teenager I worked in a cabinet shop making custom kitchen cabinets. When I was 20, I moved to California to go to college.

I started going to college with a desire to teach math. As I started taking Mathematics courses I enjoyed them so much that I began picking up more math courses even though they were not in my major. As a result I graduated Central Washington University with two majors, one in Mathematics and the other in Secondary Mathematics Education.

This is my 9th year teaching high school and I have taught all high school math courses and several science courses. Currently I am teaching AP Statistics and AP Computer Science. My love teaching and look forward to coming to work every day. I also enjoy backpacking, snowboarding and most of all, traveling to visit my family.

Robert Hawkins

Robert Hawkins is a transplanted Californian who has been working at Aspire since 2011. Originally a son of New Mexico who moved here after attending the 1984 Olympics, Bob is now a teacher of Geometry, Algebra, and Art at Benjamin Holt. Bob’s degree in Art from New Mexico State University gave him the tools to work as a professional artist for years before he went into teaching. He obtained his Master’s degree in Education from UOP as a part of the first cohort of residents in Aspire’s vaunted Teacher Residence Program. Bob credits the program and his mentor teachers Nanci Holtz and Jen Marchy for his thorough training as a teacher. Bob also puts in time after class as the faculty advisor for the Art Club and the head coach of the Varsity Softball team, among other duties. Mr. Hawkins cites his strong relationship with his students and a new-found love of math as motivating factors in why he loves to teach.

Lauren Gidding

Hello! My name is Lauren Gidding and I’m a science teacher here at Ben Holt. I received my B.S. in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from CSU Stanislaus. My husband and I were both born and raised in Stockton and just moved back with our baby boy, after living in Turlock for a couple of years. I am also proud to say that I was part of the first class of Ben Holt graduates in 2007 and it is so great to be back here and see how much the school has grown in the last 10 years. It is also amazing to be here supporting the students in their education, as some of the same teachers here today supported me years ago. Some of these staff members made such a difference in my life and I can only hope to have the same influence on the students here now.
