Susan Chi

Hello! This is the start of my seventh year teaching science at Ben Holt Academy. I have taught physical science, biology, environmental science, and chemistry. Chemistry and AP Chemistry are my main classes this year. I love science and I graduated from the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry-Biology and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. One of my greatest joys is working with our amazing students to learn about phenomena in the natural world and applied sciences. I also serve as the adviser for our school’s chapter of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF Chapter 1347), Science Club (Science Olympiad and FIRST Tech team), and Earth Club.

Brad Beltz

Hello! My name is Brad Beltz. I am in my 6th year of teaching, and my first year at Ben Holt. I currently teach Biology and AP Psychology. Previously, I have also taught Earth Science and Human Physiology. I love science! Upon graduation from Tokay High School, I enrolled at Cosumnes River College and played on the baseball team. After community college, I continued my baseball career at UC San Diego and earned a B.A. in Psychology. I finished earning my Single Subject Credential in Life Science in 2011, and added Earth Science shortly after.

My wife Ingrid and I have two children, Ace (2014) and Piper (2016). I like to follow sports, play baseball on Sundays, play video games, listen to punk rock, and quote funny movies. My goal in the classroom is to help students become their best selves and to help students apply scientific knowledge and scientific thinking to their own lives. I look forward to meeting you!
